My name is Michelle McClintock and I’m here to show you how to love the skin you’re in and light up your life! I love being able to say this after the long journey it took me to get here and I want to share this journey and what I learned with you.
Someone once said to me when I was in my early 20’s that I was “pretty in my own way”. That has stuck with me all of these years because it made me feel so ugly and undervalued. I was at my heaviest weight after the birth of my son in 2000. I still have the picture of myself that made me cry. I was 35 years old, 198 pounds wearing a size 22 and I should have been happy but I wasn’t. I had a new baby, a beautiful teenage daughter, a doting husband who loved me, a great career and I was miserable.
Over the next 10 years I struggled with my weight, body image and self esteem. I counted calories, counted points, tried pills, starved myself, tried fad diets. A lot of it worked but I would gain back some if not all of the weight. Then in 2010 I had a hysterectomy and went into full blown menopause over night. I gained weight, cried, yelled, got depressed; I was a hot mess. My doctor put me on HRT and anti-depressants and told me I would feel better and I did but something was still missing. I still had to find a way to lose the weight, and I did not want to rely on chemicals to feel better.
I couldn’t take it any more so I went on a mission to find what was going to work for me. I experimented with foods and herbal remedies, I started exercising, I drank more water, I ate weird food. I journaled what was working and what wasn’t. I started to pay attention to my body and how it felt and responded to what I was doing. And I was surprised at what my body told me. I’m still a work in progress but I feel amazing and never thought I could get here.
But this wasnt all I did. I also started to pay attention to my thoughts. Yep, I dug deep. I faced my demons, and took a long hard look at all the things I had been “stuffing”. I learned that my shadow side, that part of me that feels anger, resentment and fear, is a part of me. I learned to embrace my shadow side and stop running from her. It was in this space that I was able to shed the final layer of my limiting self beliefs. This opened me up to a whole new world of connecting with my soul. I started to meditate, practice mindfulness, do yoga, take long walks, light lots of candles, build an alter and learn to energy healing. I got healings and learned that in giving healings I am also healing myself.
My mission is to teach you how to be YOU. How to shed the layers that you are hiding under. To emerge as the amazing woman that you truly are. I want you to love life, love your body and embrace your shadow side. I want you to be your happiest ever! Now I am proud to be PRETTY IN MY OWN WAY!
